Before the linen-draped rooms and the morning light through green shutters, there was rubble. There were cracked walls, century-old beams hidden under grime, and a family who refused to let a 19th-century Ligurian home disappear. What you see today is not renovation — it is an act of devotion.

A 19th-Century Ligurian Home, Restored with Integrity

Ca' Vecia — "the old house" in the local dialect — is a historic stone farmhouse in Riccò del Golfo di Spezia, Liguria, just 15 minutes from the Cinque Terre coast. The restoration began as a family mission: to preserve original hand-hewn wooden ceiling beams, ancient stone walls, and the structural soul of a building that had stood for over two centuries.

The work involved complete structural reinforcement, facade rebuilding, interior brickwork by local craftsmen, and painstaking restoration of the original timber roof structure — all while maintaining the character that makes Ca' Vecia unlike any other accommodation near Cinque Terre or the Gulf of Poets (Golfo dei Poeti).

The result is a B&B that carries genuine history in its walls — where guests sleep beneath the same beams that sheltered Ligurian families generations ago, now paired with modern comfort and the warmth of a home truly cared for.
